How to Submit Materials

For starters, I will only consider print-on-demand titles, and you must supply me with a link to any of the major online distributors currently peddling your wares, a la Barnes & Noble.com, Amazon.com, a Lulu storefront, etc. Books in the following genres will be considered:

  • Thriller
  • Suspense
  • Mystery
  • Action-adventure
  • Historical
  • Romance
  • Sci-fi
  • Fantasy
  • Horror
  • Young adult (YA)

I will also read and review literary fiction, as well as the various subgenres under the speculative fiction umbrella, but I make major exceptions when it comes to erotica and anything far outside the genres listed above. Apart from memoirs, biographies, essays, and anything dealing with film and television, non-fiction will also have to find another home.

To authors, go easy on the language. Too many cuss words is nauseating to me. The same goes for lit that contains so much sexual content that the material borders on erotica.

Now, when submitting books, do so by attaching a PDF file of the book to your email so that I can see your work and decide whether I'll accept it or not. (You can also attach Rich Text Format or MS Word files, but WordPerfect will not do, nor will MS Works formats.) Your email should include a query that gives a two-paragraph description of your book, as well as a little bit of background on the author (this also applies to publishers and publicists who are intending to submit materials on behalf of their authors).

If I feel that your work is worthy of a good read, I’ll read it; and if it merits a read you can be sure that I’ll review it. Following your submission, you will be notified via email as to whether your book will be read and reviewed or not. And if it will be read I will supply you with an address that you can mail the hard copy submission to. This is the preferred format at POD Critic.

If you're intending to use an excerpt from my review as a blurb on your book cover, please be sure to submit the book at least three months in advance of your actual publication date.

Well, that's it in a nutshell (give or take a few paragraphs).

So, without further adieu, let the submissions begin.
